Thorsten Loehl

Director, Science & Engineering, Innovation & Technology at Borealis

Thorsten Loehl has held various roles in different companies throughout their career. Thorsten started in 1995 as a Lab Manager at Henkel, later transitioning to the positions of Research Associate and Senior Manager. In 2000, they joined Cognis as Director of R&D. Thorsten then moved to Borealis in 2009, where they served as Director of R&D Chemical Products and Head of Marketing BU Film&Fibre. In 2012, they joined Swarovski as EVP Global Research, Design & Innovation SP. In 2016, they became Vice President Innovation at Borouge and later also took on the role of Managing Director and Director of Science & Engineering, Innovation & Technology at Borealis. In 2021, they joined ARA - Altstoff Recycling Austria AG as a Member of the Supervisory Board.

Thorsten Loehl received their PhD in Chemistry from the University of Münster, where they studied from 1986 to 1995. In 2004, they pursued an MBA in Business, Management, Marketing, and related support services at NIMBAS, Bradford - Graduate School of Management, which they completed in 2006. In 2011, Thorsten attended IMD for Leadership studies, finishing in 2012.
