Tech Lead, Hardware Systems Architecture at Boston Dynamics

Joao Ramos is a seasoned professional in mechanical engineering and robotics, currently serving as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Boston Dynamics since September 2022 and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since August 2019. Prior experience includes a role as a Research Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from September 2013 to August 2019, where Joao focused on human-machine interfaces and machine design, notably contributing to the humanoid robotic platform HERMES. Joao's earlier work as a Project Engineer at GT2 Energia involved developing a remotely operated magnetic power plant inspection robot. Academic qualifications include a Postdoctoral Associate degree in Robotics and a PhD in Robotics, Machine Design, and Dynamic Systems from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master's degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro in Robotics and Human Machine Interface, complemented by a mechanical engineering education at Politecnico di Milano.
