Associate Provost, Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University

Azer Bestavros serves as the Associate Provost for Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University since 2019, where Azer leads initiatives in the rapidly evolving field of computing and data sciences. In addition to this role, Azer holds the prestigious title of William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and has contributed significantly as the Founding Director of the Hariri Institute for Computing, which was established in 2010. Throughout a distinguished career at Boston University beginning in 1991, Azer has held various academic positions, including Professor and Chairman of the Computer Science Department. Additionally, Azer functions as an Expert Witness for intellectual property law firms and provides consulting services to various technology companies. Educational credentials include a PhD and an SM in Computer Science from Harvard University, as well as MS and BS degrees in Computer Science and Automatic Control and Computer Engineering from Alexandria University.
