Igor Bogorad

Director of Strain Development at Bota Biosciences

Igor Bogorad has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and bioengineering. Igor is currently the Director of Strain Development at Bota Biosciences since June 2020. Prior to this, they worked at Amyris, where they held the positions of Scientist II from April 2018 to May 2020 and Scientist I from June 2016 to April 2018. Before joining Amyris, Igor worked at UCLA as a Postdoctoral Scholar from April 2015 to June 2016, where they focused on strain engineering and the development of synthetic methylotrophy in E. coli. Igor also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at UCLA from September 2010 to March 2015, where they invented the "Non-Oxidative Glycolysis" pathway and filed two patent applications. Additionally, Igor worked as a DOE Federal Student Ambassador for the U.S. Department of Energy from August 2009 to May 2010, conducting marketing activities and recruiting graduates for DOE positions. Igor also had research internships at NREL in 2009 and Berkeley Lab from 2005 to 2007, where they curated novel genomes and conducted research as a student researcher at UCLA from 2006 to 2007. Igor's work experience also includes a position as a Lab Assistant at the Molecular Biology Institute in 2007.

Igor Bogorad pursued their education at UCLA, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from 2006 to 2010. Igor then continued their studies at UCLA and earned a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, completing their doctoral program from 2010 to 2015.
