Derek Lemieux

Director, Strategic Partnerships at BOW VALLEY COLLEGE

Derek Lemieux brings a blend of business, academic, and international leadership experience with an entrepreneurial approach to Bow Valley College. As a collaborative leader, he articulates a clear vision, identifies long-term future goals, and challenges organizations to constantly improve and grow. He has worked collaboratively with senior administrators at all levels, in Canada and abroad, to be responsive to opportunities and changing market demands. Combining broad business and financial acumen and a strategic mindset to implement action and achieve goals, his teams are launching new products and services, providing mobility opportunities for learners, faculty and staff, managing international development projects, and developing skilled interculturally competent graduates.

As a creative and innovative thinker, Derek co-founded the Bow Valley College Centre for Entertainment Arts (CEA) with the Dean, Business and Technology. The Centre for Entertainment Arts prepares students for careers in the global visual effects, animation, and gaming industries.

Derek holds a Business Administration – Marketing Diploma from Algonquin College, Bachelor of Arts from University of Ottawa, Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Global Leadership from Royal Roads University and Instructional Design Graduate Certificate from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is currently completing the Doctor of Education in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
