Amelia Zawangone has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Amelia began their career in 2007 as the Deputy Coordinator of a Sexual and Reproductive Health Program at the Mozambican Association for Family Development. Amelia later worked at Pathfinder International as a Technical Advisor/Project Officer on Sexual and Reproductive Health and HIV for Key Populations. In 2012, Amelia joined the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as a Technical Advisor for key populations, teenagers, and young people, with a focus on young girls. Amelia continued to work with UNFPA in different roles and responsibilities until 2017. From 2016 to 2017, they served as an Independent Consultant for the World Health Organization, specializing in Gender Analysis for Service Availability and Readiness Assessment. In 2017, they became the Chairperson of the Directive Board at the Mozambican Association for Family Development - IPPF Affiliate. Amelia also held positions at the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and IMF Family Association - IMFFA. Currently, they are working as a Child Care Specialist and Youth Development Professional at Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Additionally, they have experience as an Independent Life Coach. Throughout their career, Amelia has demonstrated expertise in program coordination, strategic planning, capacity building, and advocacy for sexual and reproductive health rights and gender equality.

Amelia Zawangone has a diverse education history. In 2005, they attended Eduardo Mondlane University - Economics Faculty and obtained a Bachelor of General Management degree, specializing in Business Administration and Management, General. Amelia continued their education at Eduardo Mondlane University from 2013 to 2018, earning a Master's Degree in Population and Development.

In 2016, they pursued a Certificate Course/Postgraduate program in International Gender Studies and Training at Háskóli Íslands, in collaboration with the United Nation University. To further expand their knowledge, they completed a Certificate Course in Human Rights Theory and Philosophy offered by Curtin University in November 2019.

More recently, Amelia enrolled in Arizona State University in 2021 and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Justice and Human Rights, focusing on Social Justice and Human Rights.

Amelia Zawangone also holds various certifications. Amelia obtained the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certification from the International Coaching Federation in August 2022 and is a member of the International Coaching Federation since March 2022. Additionally, they completed the Certified Life Coach and Certified Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming certifications at the iNLP Center in November 2021. Furthermore, they have obtained certifications in Community Change in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, Mandated Reporter Training from the Child and Family Service Agency in DC, and Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMTraining, all in 2020.
