David Holston

National Creative Director at Boys & Girls Clubs of America

David Holston has over three decades of work experience in various creative and strategic roles. David currently serves as the National Creative Director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Prior to this, they worked as the Associate Vice President, Creative at Emory University, where they led a team of editors, writers, art directors, designers, web developers, photographers, and videographers. In addition, they authored two books published by Simon and Schuster, focusing on design process best practices and visualizing communication strategy.

Before their time at Emory University, Holston held multiple roles at the Georgia Institute of Technology, including Senior Director of Creative Strategy and Brand Management, where they led digital strategy, marketing communications, and rebranding initiatives. David also directed online communication efforts, expanding the Institute's content management system and implementing new media marketing initiatives.

Prior to Georgia Tech, Holston served as the Director of Strategic Design Management at The University of Texas at Austin, where they established the university's first centralized creative marketing team and led the redesign of the university's website.

Their earlier experiences include roles as Creative Director at Wavefly, Creative Director at Blue Byte GmbH, Senior Art Director at Signature Communications, and Lead Designer at GE. In these positions, Holston directed brand development, coordinated marketing communications, and managed design teams.

Throughout their career, Holston has demonstrated expertise in integrated marketing, communications strategy, brand management, website design, and creative leadership.

David Holston has studied Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and Design at The University of the Arts. David has also pursued Executive Education in AIGA's Business Perspectives For Creative Leaders program at the Yale School of Management.
