Karla Mendez serves as Senior Counsel at bp since June 2017, focusing on Downstream and Midstream operations in Mexico, specifically in Fuels and Lubricants. Prior to this role, Karla worked as Corporate Counsel/General Counsel for Facchina Construction from September 2015 to June 2017, providing legal and regulatory support for a Mexican parent company and its U.S. subsidiaries. Karla has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, having held the position of Managing Counsel for M&A and Corporate Finance at ICA Ingenieros Civiles Asociados from September 2004 to June 2017, where responsibilities included drafting shareholder agreements and obtaining antitrust approvals. Early in the career, Karla completed a Rule of Law Internship at the United States Embassy (USAID) from January 2003 to July 2004, focusing on alternative dispute resolution in Mexico. Academically, Karla holds an LL.M. in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law, a Post Undergraduate Degree in Corporate Law from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, and a Law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México.
