About the role:
As a Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer at BR-DGE, you will be a part of our Platform team helping our application engineers to do their best work by providing them with the tools, systems and container platform cluster needed to build, deploy and run their workloads.
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer who has a passion for creating scalable, reliable and high-performing solutions and who enjoys either owning or contributing to projects from conception to production.
This role is ideal for a Senior Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer who is looking to continuously develop their skills and progress their career within a dynamic scale up environment. We are also open to considering candidates who are operating at a senior level without the title. Please note, due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement to join an on-call rota to ensure we are responding to any issues outside of standard working hours.
What you’ll be doing:
We currently run multiple OKD clusters in multiple AWS regions globally, supplemented with Opensearch for logging, Prometheus and RabbitMQ amongst other technologies. We are moving towards our long-term goal to “shift-left” as much of our infrastructure as possible so that engineers have what they need, when they need it and with minimal overhead for the Platform Team. This role will play a significant part in helping us achieve this and more as we scale.

In addition, you can expect to:
Work with the team and other stakeholders to design, compare, choose and implement appropriate solutions
Actively participate in improving the reliability, scalability and security of the container platform
Proactive monitoring of the health of the platform and improving visibility of this
Active DB management ensuring availability
Carrying out logging, routing and general platform asset management tasks
Investigate platform issues ensuring timely remediation, escalating as necessary
Coaching and mentoring other engineers, encouraging continuous learning and improvement
Staying current with trends and best practices in the FinTech industry to continuously improve and development processes
Take part in the on-call rota
What are we looking for?
Solid experience with OKD, OpenShift, or Kubernetes administration, including the building, deployment and management of containerised workloads
Experienced in developing infrastructure as code using common languages and tooling including a working knowledge of Linux
Background in working with clustered, highly available and fault tolerant systems
A working knowledge of at least one commercial cloud platform e.g AWS, Azure, Digital Ocean
A pragmatic problem solver, with good attention to detail and communication skills
A strong collaborator who enjoys pairing and is eager to share knowledge and expertise with others
Growth mindset, with an appetite for taking on challenges and leveraging new technologies
What would be great to have?
Experience working in PCI accredited environments where security is a key consideration
Knowledge and understanding of the payments industry
Background in a FinTech start-up/scale up environment
Practical knowledge of the Atlassian software suite
