Mel Sherman, PhD has a diverse work experience. In 2013, they began working as an Urgent Care Medical Assistant at Metro Immediate & Primary Care. In 2014, they moved to Theranostix Inc. as a Mel'stology Technician. In 2021, they became a Lecturer at San Francisco State University, where they prepared and gave 10 lectures on topics such as Oogenesis, Folliculogenesis, Ovarian Steroidogenesis, Menstrual Cycle, Menstruation, Puberty, Sexual Drive, Sexual Function, and Sexual Motivation. They also held office hours and mentored students. In 2020, they began working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, where they leveraged viral and non-viral approaches to neural circuit mapping and gene editing of estrogen-responsive neurons. In 2022, they became a Scientist at BrainXell, Inc.

Mel Sherman, PhD obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Medicine from The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences in 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science in Orthopaedic Sciences from the same institution in 2016. Mel also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physical and Biological Anthropology from the University of Maryland, which they obtained in 2010.
