Tom Schwei has a long and successful career in the finance and accounting industry. Tom began their career in 1979 at Ernst & Young as a Senior Manager, where they worked with clients such as SEC companies, major $1 Billion + manufacturers, high-tech, biotech, not-for-profit and governmental organizations. In 1992, they moved on to Nelson Industries as the Corporate Controller. In 1995, they joined Promega Corporation as the Corporate Controller, where they led the finance and accounting functions and helped the company grow by more than double. In 2002, they became the General Manager of PanVera Corporation, where they successfully completed the acquisition by Invitrogen Corporation and helped transition the Madison operation. In 2004, they joined DNASTAR, Inc. as the VP, CFO & General Manager, where they were responsible for the day to day operations of the software company and helped to set long-term strategic direction. In 2014, they began their role as a Board Member of Working Capital for Community Needs - Madison, WI, where they served as Treasurer and President as part of their role as a Director. In 2020, they became a Consultant, Coach and Mentor to Entrepreneurs and Start-up Businesses and in 2022, they accepted a position as the part-time CFO for BrainXell, a company dedicated to using stem cells to help treat neurological disorders. Tom retired from DNASTAR in June 2021.
Tom Schwei attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1975 to 1979, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Accounting.
