Key Responsibilities

This role will be assessed for level within the Data Analyst vertical based on experience. The position will report directly to the Claims organization but work with the Insurance Product Analytics Manager and will be responsible for supporting the development, maintenance and reinvention of a variety of business intelligence tools and reports necessary to support self-service within Branch Claims.

This person will be responsible for all the development tasks associated with data analytics and process automation. Analysts are de facto querying experts expected to have a good understanding of all relevant data structures needed to monitor behaviors and identify trends for claims. Selecting appropriate data sets and assuming full ownership of the process to develop dashboards, easily digestible data visualizations and other reports to support a data driven operation are key responsibilities of this role.

Some of the core responsibilities this role will support include:

  • Developing and maintaining dashboards, visualizations and other forms of ad-hoc reporting necessary to support truly data-driven business strategies.

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing issues within existing tools.

  • Becoming a subject matter expert with a deep understanding of our claims data architecture and the different data sets we rely on to support the business intelligence needs for a fast paced department.

  • Supporting and often owning the execution of all steps in our data analytics pipeline. (Data capture, data lake construction, data visualization and overall business analysis).

  • Validating data and following best practices to guarantee quality, compliance and a positive experience for end users.

  • Making recommendations to create an environment where ongoing optimization is an organic part of our development processes.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

What we are looking for:

  • A strong technical background and a passion for continuous learning and continuous improvement.

  • P&C Claims experience, either handling or managing data, with an emphasis on personal lines.

  • Strong basis in SQL is highly desirable, ideally within the google cloud environment.

  • Experience designing and developing visualizations in QLik, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar data visualization software.

  • Python or R introductions.

  • Data Engineering interest.
