Bala Kumaran has a diverse work experience spanning across various industries and roles. In 2009, they worked as a Junior Brand Manager at Marks and Spencer India. Bala then moved on to Mayat Clothing where they served as a Junior Executive, handling product development, merchandising, and export documentation. In 2010, they joined Future Group People Office as a Senior Brand Manager. After that, they took on the role of Brand Manager - Planning & Merchandising at Landmark Group, where they were responsible for top-line and bottom-line delivery, internal processes, life cycle management, execution of events and activations, new product/category launches, and promo effectiveness. In 2013, Bala joined Take Leap as a Brand Strategist & Head of Business, where they provided e-commerce consultancy, managed key accounts, and performed brand analysis. Bala then served as the Head of Marketing at BHiVE Workspace, responsible for marketing strategy development, partner development, and team management. In 2015, they became the Vice President of Corporate Strategy at FireTrack Safety And Solution Engineering, overseeing fire fighting equipment manufacturing and quality systems. Lastly, in 2023, Bala joined KD Ventures as a Partner/Advisor.
Bala Kumaran completed their Master's degree in Fashion Business Management from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, where they studied Retail, Marketing, Design & Strategy. Prior to that, they attended K.L.E s. Nijalingappa College and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Fashion and Apparel Design, specializing in Fashion and Retail. In addition to their formal education, Bala Kumaran has acquired several certifications including the Inbound Certification from HubSpot, the Adwords Fundamentals & Search Advertising Exams, Google Analytics Certification, Google Display Advertising Certification, and the Toastmasters Competent Communicator Certificate.
