Brass Lion Entertainment is seeking a Senior Technical Animator to join a talented and diverse team currently working on a new, unannounced Action-RPG title.

The right candidate for this position will work closely with the Animation, Art, and Design Directors to establish an iconic, stylized look for the next generation of consoles and PC. You will create innovative rigs and tools to allow our characters to come to life. Your expertise will support and inspire the creation of engaging and unique animation and gameplay experiences.   

Brass Lion Entertainment has employees based in New York City, Montréal, and remote locations across Canada and United States.  

Responsibilities 

  • Work directly with art and animation teams to create rigs, props, and weapons to support the project’s needs from Maya to Unreal.
  • Develop tools, pipelines, and documentations for artists, animators, and designers for efficient workflows both in 3D software and in Unreal.
  • Collaborate with art, animation, design, and programming to develop animation, gameplay, and other systems. 
  • Setup various assets and systems in engine including characters, blueprints, IK, and other systems.
  • Research and develop new tools, methods, and workflows to support the style of the game.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and supporting technical issues within 3D software and Unreal.
  • Develop and maintain standards for assets and depot structures.

Required Qualifications 

  • Significant professional experience in a game development environment, preferably AAA games.  
  • Expert knowledge in character and prop rigging, skinning, tool creation. 
  • Expert knowledge and experience with art and animation workflow, pipelines and tools.  
  • Experience using Unreal to setup characters and animations.  
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Mel, C#/C++, Maya API. 
  • Located and authorized for work in the US or Canada.

Desired Qualifications

  • Cross disciplinary skills in game development. 
  • Experience supporting external teams a plus.
  • Expert level knowledge of Unreal (Blueprints, EventGraphs, AnimGraphs, State Machines, Retargeting)

Salary Transparency: The standard base pay range for this role is CDN$100,000 - CDN$160,000 Annual (USD$100,000 - USD$140,000). Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
