Shane Colquhoun, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience. In 2022, they will become an Assistant Professor of Music Technology and Contemporary Musical Styles at Alabama State University, a Course Facilitator at Longy School of Music, and the Director of Educational Partnerships at Breaker Nation. From 2008 to 2022, they were the Band Director at Lochapoka High School (Lee County Board of Education), where they rebuilt the band program from 7 students to over 70 members, designed and implemented curriculum for an online Music Appreciation Program, recruited and maintained around 25% of the school’s student population in the Band Program, maintained all budgeting activities and fundraising events, developed a student leadership system, advised seniors and juniors in their post-graduation decisions, and was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2013-2014 school year. From 2006 to 2008, they were a Graduate Assistant at Auburn University and a Composer at Public Broadcasting Service W.C.E.U Daytona Beach.

Shane Colquhoun, Ph.D. completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from Auburn University between 2016 and 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Education in Higher Education from Auburn University between 2012 and 2014 and a Master of Education in Music Education from Auburn University between 2006 and 2008. Shane also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology and Business from Bethune-Cookman University between 2002 and 2006. Additionally, they obtained a Class A Alabama P-12 instrumental music teacher certification in June 2013.
