Jonathan Eckart

Manager, Partnerships at Breakthrough Energy

Jonathan joined Breakthrough Energy in February 2022 as Manager, Partnerships. Jonathan has ten years of experience in incubating, growing, and delivering climate technology initiatives with major companies.

Most recently, he was Lead for Corporate Climate Action at the World Economic Forum, leading the project management office of a climate alliance of 120 CEOs and their businesses with a combined market cap of ~$8 trillion. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Battery Alliance, which he co-founded in 2017 to decarbonize the transport and power industries. Prior to that, he was deputy of an inclusive growth initiative, reporting to the Forum’s Chief Economist, and Consultant in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President of Sierra Leone. He started his career as an Analyst at the Brunswick Group in Berlin, where he focused on the energy industry.

Jonathan holds an MPP from the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Freie Universität Berlin and studied management and economics at the University of Chicago. He loves spending free time with friends and family in the French alps and Italian lake region close to Geneva.
