Michael Baessler

Michael Baessler has extensive work experience in the field of software architecture and development. Michael is currently serving as Chief Software Architect at Breakwater Solutions, where they are responsible for the SaaS architecture and has released the first version of a multi-tenant Information Governance and Data Privacy cloud solution. This solution helps clients identify sensitive information within their unstructured data sources and mitigate associated risks using smart AI-based solutions.

Before their current role, Michael worked at IBM for many years, holding various senior software architect positions. Michael developed solutions in IBM Cloud governance area, analyzing and enriching data assets with governance relevant information using modern microservice architectures. Michael also modernized the experience of working with IBM's data management systems, focusing on products such as StoredIQ and InstaScan. In addition, they contributed to the architecture and content analytics capabilities of InstaScan, implementing a machine learning and active learning effort called Cognitive Data Assessment.

Earlier in their career, Michael had roles in email archiving, identity and access management, enterprise search, and open-source software development at IBM. Michael also served as a Working Student at Mindlab Solutions GmbH.

Furthermore, Michael has also made significant contributions to the Apache Software Foundation, specifically as a Committer and PMC Member for the Apache UIMA Project.
