Omid Ekrami

Omid Ekrami is an experienced R&D Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead at Bricsys® since November 2019, focusing on the development of new features and applications for point cloud handling and analysis in BricsCAD software. Prior to this role, Omid served as a PhD Researcher at UAntwerpen from August 2016 to May 2023, concentrating on 3D shape analysis of the human face and exploring the adaptive value of masculinity and fluctuating asymmetry. Earlier experience includes a Master Thesis position at UZ Leuven, where multi-resolution analysis of 3D faces was performed, and an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, involving gastrointestinal electro-stimulation research for obesity and diabetes prevention. Omid also completed an internship at Sharif University of Technology in the GAIT lab, working on 3D design and FEM analysis. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Antwerp, a Master's in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from KU Leuven, and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology.
