Professor - Experience Design And Management at Brigham Young University

Mat Duerden currently serves as the Department Chair for Experience Design and Management at Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Business, providing leadership and support to faculty, staff, and students since July 2024. Duerden has been a professor in the same department at Brigham Young University since August 2012, with previous roles as Associate and Assistant Professor. Additionally, Duerden works as a consultant for Beta Experiences. Prior experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at Texas A&M University, where Duerden coordinated the Sequor Youth Development Initiative, and as Coordinator for Texas A&M's Youth Development Initiative. Duerden has also held the position of Co-Director at the Wilderness Instruction and Leadership Development Foundation, managing a multi-week wilderness adventure program for underprivileged adolescents. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University and both a BA and MS from Brigham Young University in German and Youth and Family Recreation.
