Aleksandr Mikhonin

Senior Applications Scientist at BrightSpec

Aleksandr Mikhonin has been working in the field of vibrational spectroscopy since 1994, when they began as a Graduate Student and Research Engineer at the Institute of Chemical Physics. In 2007, they became a Research Scientist at BioTools, Inc., and in 2008 they were a Staff Scientist at Alcoa Technical Center and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Senior Applications Scientist at BioTools, Inc., where they identified and developed new applications of vibrational spectroscopy, provided technical, marketing and sales support for BioTools' Raman products, and won the 2016 The Analytical Scientist Innovation Award (TASIA). Since 2017, they have been a Senior Applications Scientist at BrightSpec, Inc.

Aleksandr Mikhonin obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University) (MIPT) between 1991 and 1995. Aleksandr then went on to obtain a Master of Science (M.S.) in Physical Chemistry from the same institution between 1995 and 1997. In 1998, they began their Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh, which they completed in 2007. In 2015, they obtained a Lean Six Sigma White Belt Certification from Breakthrough Performance Group, LLC.
