Steven Stanek

Steven Stanek is the Chief Technical Officer at Brilliant. Steven has over fifteen years of experience in the tech industry and has held various leadership positions during their career.

Stanek co-founded Covariable, a software development company, in 2006 and served as an engineer there for three years before moving on to Shopkick in 2009. At Shopkick, Stanek was responsible for leading the engineering organization and overseeing production software architecture, scalability, and quality. Steven was also a member of the leadership team and helped with the company's post-merger integration. In 2012, Stanek was named one of Shopkick's Inventors of the Year for their work on the shopkick Signal, an audio-based presence detection system.

In 2015, Stanek left Shopkick to join Brilliant as its first Chief Technical Officer. At Brilliant, Stanek leads a team of engineers who are working on building a platform to make it easy for anyone to learn math and science.

Steven Stanek received their Master's Degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Steven Stanek also attended the Menlo School and the Harker School.

Steven Stanek reports to Aaron Emigh, CEO. They are on a team with Jeremy Hiatt - Chief Engineer, Brian Fukumoto - VP of Operations.
