John Masters

Director, Digital Records Management at Brillient

As Director of Digital Records Management, Masters is responsible for supporting Brillient’s Digitalization Practice solution design and development. Masters also applies his over 35 years of experience in the records and information management field to provide consulting services to Brillient’s Information Governance and Digitalization practice clients.

Before joining Brillient, John worked for Information Management Consultants, Inc. (IMC) for nineteen years. He served as a Records and Information Management Consultant and Practice Lead for the Records and Information Governance practice. Some key accomplishments included developing the “Long Term Electronic Records Management strategy” for the U.S. Department of State. He also developed an information collection solution used by the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force to modernize their Records Management File Plans. Each project was estimated to take approximately three years to complete, but under John’s direction, the projects were completed in under six months.

He also consulted with Harley Davidson Financial Service, The Federal Reserve, U.S. Bank, Chicago Board Options Exchange, and many other clients. Before his work with IMC, John was Director of the Management Lab of Cambridge Technology Partners. He has managed several document conversion operations, including the largest Computer Output to Microfiche production facility in the U.S. John worked as the Records Manager for the City of Greensboro, NC, and consulted with The Wake Forest School of Medicine. John served on a Land Records Advisory Board as part of the N.C. Division of Archives and History and has testified before committees of the North Carolina Legislature on Land Records Management and Public Records.

John Graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He’s a long-time member of the Association for Intelligent Information Management (AIIM), having held positions as Chapter President and serving on several national and international committees. John received AIIM’s Distinguished Service Award and currently serves as Vice-President of the Gulf Coast Chapter. He is an active member of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA). John has spoken at several AIIM and ARMA Conferences, including the AIIM Leadership Conference.
