Chemical Engineer, Hydrometallurgy at Brimstone Energy

Janny Cai has worked in a variety of roles in the engineering field. In 2022, they began working as a Hydrometallurgy Chemical Engineer II at Brimstone. In 2021, they moved to Confluent Medical Technologies, where they were a Process Development Engineer II. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Process Engineer at ExxonMobil. During this time, they supported fluid catalytic cracking units globally, developed a model for a company's largest chemical R&D project, designed equipment and evaluated designs for commercial units and R&D projects, and created an internal VBA macro tool to evaluate catalyst inventory for manufacturing units. In 2018, they were a Teaching Assistant at the MIT Department of Chemical Engineering and an Academic Program Intern at OSIsoft. In 2017, they were a Lab Assistant and Researcher at MIT Lienhard Lab, where they drove a company-sponsored project and investigated ways to optimize energy efficiency and economic benefits of resource recovery technologies. Janny also published a research paper in Angewandte Chemie and won an award for research at a science exhibition. In 2016, they were a Lab Assistant at MIT Tisdale Lab.

Janny Cai attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2015 to 2019, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
