Andrew Horton

Director Digital, Partnerships and Innovation at British Council

Andrew Horton is the Director of Digital, Partnerships and Innovation at the British Council. Andrew has also served on the boards of NLA media access and the Publishers Licensing Society (PLS).

Horton began their career at Time Inc. UK in April 2002 as the Director of Content, Brand Licensing & Development. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the licensing and development of content for Time Inc.'s UK publications.

In June 2009, Horton joined the board of the Publishers Licensing Society (PLS). PLS is a content licensing and monetisation business that generates revenue for publishers of books, digital content, journals, education materials, and magazines. Horton advised on corporate strategy, growth, technology solutions, operational performance, organisational design, partnerships, and regulatory affairs. Andrew also chaired the Remunerations Committee and was responsible for stakeholder engagement.

In June 2013, Horton joined the board of NLA media access, a content, rights, and data licensing business with 9,700 clients. Andrew advised on strategy, digital transformation, technology, operations, and corporate development. NLA media access had £37 million in revenue and was experiencing double-digit growth. Horton represented the magazine industry on the board.

Horton joined the British Council in January 2016 as the Director of Digital, Partnerships and Innovation. In this role, they are responsible for leading the British Council's digital transformation and driving innovation across the organisation.

Andrew Horton attended Abundance Digital and Singularity U, University of Leeds, American University, and Stanford Graduate School of Business.
