Alan Thomson

Head Of Geomagnetism at British Geological Survey

Alan Thomson has over three decades of experience in the field of geophysics, currently serving as the Head of Geomagnetism at the British Geological Survey since 1991. Prior to this role, Alan Thomson worked as a Radar Studies Engineer at Racal Defense Radar and Displays from 1987 to 1991 and as a Radar Systems Engineer at Marconi from 1985 to 1987. Alan Thomson holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from The University of Edinburgh (1982-1985) and a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Glasgow (1978-1982).
