Alexis Bjorlin

SVP & GM, Optical Systems Division at Broadcom

Alexis Björlin is Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Optical Systems Division (OSD). Dr. Björlin leads the business unit responsible for developing and manufacturing devices used in optical communications. She is also responsible for developing Broadcom's silicon photonics-based platform for interconnect and co-packaging optical I/O. Dr. Björlin serves as an independent board director for Digital Realty [NYSE: DLR], a leading data center Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).

Prior to joining the company, Dr. Björlin was corporate vice president and general manager of the data center connectivity group at Intel, having responsibility for three business units: the networking division, the high-performance computing fabric division, and the silicon photonics division. While at Intel, Dr. Björlin commercialized Intel's silicon photonics technology, served on the board of directors for the Intel Capital Diversity Initiative, and was a frequent speaker and advocate for women and diversity in technology. Prior to Intel, Dr. Björlin served as president and a member of the board of directors for Source Photonics, a private equity-owned, global fiber optics manufacturer. Dr. Björlin holds a BS in materials science & engineering from MIT and a Ph. D. in materials science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
