Ilan Ben-Zvi

Ilan Ben-Zvi is a distinguished physicist with a robust career primarily at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where roles include Distinguished Scientist Emeritus, Senior Scientist Emeritus, and Associate Chair and Division Head of Accelerator R&D, contributing significantly to advanced accelerator research for the RHIC facility since 1988. Concurrently, Ilan served as BNL Professor of Physics at Stony Brook University from 2009 to 2023, having also been a Visiting Professor there earlier. Prior experience includes senior research positions at the Weizmann Institute of Science, where contributions encompassed building a superconducting heavy ion booster and advancements in beam dynamics theory. With educational qualifications including a Ph.D. in Physics from the Weizmann Institute and a B.Sc. in Mathematics-Physics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Ilan has been instrumental in developing key technologies such as the superconducting RFQ and quarter wave resonator.
