Kathy Schwager

Kathy Schwager is an experienced ecologist currently serving as the Prescribed Fire Program Manager at Brookhaven National Laboratory since December 2010, overseeing the inventory and monitoring of wildland fuels and developing prescribed burn plans. Prior to this role, Kathy worked as an Invasive Species Ecologist at The Nature Conservancy, where directorship of the Long Island Invasive Species Management Area involved developing grant proposals for funding. Kathy's background includes positions as a Biological Technician with the National Park Service, a Graduate Assistant at the State University of New York, and an intern with the Nassau County Department of Parks & Recreation. Educational credentials include a Graduate Certificate in Fire Ecology from the University of Idaho, a Master of Science in Ecology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Resources from Hofstra University.
