Supervising Attorney at Brooklyn Defender Services

Michelle Doherty is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in immigration law. Currently serving as a Senior Attorney at Brooklyn Defender Services since August 2017, Michelle has played a significant role in the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project (NYIFUP). Prior to this, Michelle worked as a Refugee Officer for USCIS and as an Immigration Attorney with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. Earlier experience includes positions as Supervising Attorney and Staff Attorney with the American Bar Association's ProBAR Children's Project, as well as legal roles with UNHCR and various advocacy organizations. Michelle holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver - Sturm College of Law and a Master's degree in International Human Rights from the University of Denver - Josef Korbel School of International Studies, complemented by a BA in Spanish and a BS in Architecture from the University of Utah.
