Areej Khan is a Trauma Research Fellow at Health Services Academy since December 2023 and serves as a Community Volunteer with the Ethiopian Community Development Council, Inc. Areej has held multiple internships, including a Global Emergency Medicine Research Internship at Brown Emergency Medicine, focusing on a trauma training program in rural Nepal, and a role in the Safe Journeys/VOCA program. As a Research Assistant at George Mason University, Areej engages in studies on period poverty, refugee health, and gender-based violence. Areej’s clinical experience includes roles as an EMT 2 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Medical Assistant at Inova Health System, and Emergency Department Technician at Virginia Hospital Center. Additionally, Areej has contributed as a BLS EMT Instructor and participated in COVID-19 vaccination efforts with the New River Health District. Areej holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Virginia Tech and is pursuing further education at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
