Emily Kalejs Qazilbash

Emily Kalejs Qazilbash serves as the Interim Director of the Urban Education Policy Program and a Faculty Affiliate at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University, where also holds the position of Professor of Practice since November 2019. With extensive experience in education, Qazilbash has been a Research Associate for the Harvard Project on the Next Generation of Teachers since 2003. From 2011 to 2019, Qazilbash was the Chief Human Capital Officer and Executive Director at Boston Public Schools, with previous roles including Implementation Specialist and Assistant Director of the Center for Leadership Development. Other relevant positions include serving as a Policy Fellow Faculty at Teach Plus and a Consultant for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Qazilbash began a teaching career at Baltimore City Public Schools and Boston Renaissance Charter School and earned an Ed.D. in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Additionally, a B.A. in Political and Social Thought was obtained from the University of Virginia.
