Ford Foundation Professor Of Physics And Professor Of Engineering at Brown University

Gang Xiao is a distinguished physicist currently serving as the Ford Foundation Professor of Physics and Professor of Engineering at Brown University since July 1999. With a focus on condensed matter physics and nanotechnology, Gang has contributed significantly to research and education in these fields, and has held leadership roles including Interim Chair and Chair of the Physics Department, as well as Director of the Center for Nanoscience and Soft Matter. In addition to academic roles, Gang is the Founder and Chairman of Micro Magnetics, Inc., which specializes in spintronics and semiconductor metrology. Previous experience includes a position as a Visiting Scientist at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, where work involved developing magnetic random access memory (MRAM) technology. Gang holds a Ph.D. in Physics from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Nanjing University.
