Senior UX Designer

Product · MA, United States · Remote possible

Job description

We’re leading the way in redefining the workwear category. Our mission is to engineer better boots and apparel for our country’s tradesmen and women by working directly with real workers to learn what they actually need to execute their jobs.

The BRUNT team is not only devoted to improving on the old workwear standards, but we’re also creating a community that tradesmen and women can call their own. From our weekly hangouts at the BRUNT Garage, to hosting events across the country, we’re all about getting boots on the ground and building something real with the BRUNT crew.

What You’ll Do:

BRUNT is seeking a customer-obsessed Senior UX Designer. The Senior UX Designer will need to hit the ground running early in the role, to establish our in-house design system and shape the future of BRUNT DTC experiences.

In this role, you’ll be tasked with creating intuitive user interfaces that meet the needs of the BRUNT customer. You’ll do this by leveraging information derived from customer insights, market research and site data. You will continuously test, innovate and iterate to always ensure a best in class customer-centric user experience for BRUNT’s website.

This role reports to the Director of Digital Product and will be our first in-house hire. The best outcomes will be achieved by collaborating cross functionally with the product management, engineering, marketing and creative teams.

How You’ll Do It:

Design Systems Leadership

  • Establish necessary design systems for the BRUNT DTC site by creating important design assets such as UI elements and digital style guides alongside the BRUNT Brand and Creative Team.
  • Collaborate on the digital strategy for individual projects - ensuring individual projects align with and support the greater digital product strategy and business objectives.
  • Help establish and reinforce consistent interaction design patterns across platforms and touch-points.

UX & Digital Design

  • Design and deliver wireframes, sitemaps, and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces based strongly on research-driven user requirements.
  • Identify design problems; conceive new features and strategic solutions.
  • Consistently provide a range of viable design solutions; capturing all states, edge-cases, “unhappy paths” and path logic for digital product and engineering teams to action and build.
  • Develop innovative design solutions to address usability issues and user needs that balance business goals, revenue targets, and KPIs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Communicate design goals and specifications to the engineering team; improve the hand-off process to maintain a pixel-perfect design standard.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product management on A/B testing and CRO support to help drive the growth of key website KPIs.
  • Advocate for intuitive user-centered experiences and brand-influenced design solutions.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • 5+ years experience in user-centered design across digital platforms (desktop, tablet, mobile).
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital systems design, responsive design and web standards and best practices.
  • Experience creating and managing digital design systems, web style guides, digital brand books, high fidelity prototypes.
  • Experience with Figma and other design platforms.
  • Interest in collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams (brand, marketing, development) in a fun, but fast-paced environment.
  • Strong visual style and thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color, usability and information architecture affect design and navigation.
  • Effective communications skills; have a point of view about your designs.
  • Deep knowledge of current digital technologies and interactive capabilities across devices as they relate to usability principles and techniques.
  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to think holistically from an omni-channel perspective.
  • Capable of constructive collaboration with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to self-motivate, effectively prioritize work, and own project deadlines for on-time delivery.
