Role Overview: 

The Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for overseeing all financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial data. This role involves managing monthly bank and covenant compliance reporting, overseeing fixed asset reporting and depreciation, and leading the finance and accounting teams to support the company's strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proven leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and manage monthly bank and covenant compliance reports.
  • Maintain fixed asset reporting and depreciation calculations; conduct physical audits as needed.
  • Manage the corporate credit card account, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation.

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Oversee the accounting staff, ensuring coverage and support for key functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and benefits administration.
  • Review payroll processes, including bonus accruals, commission authorizations, and other variable compensation, before submission.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports in line with standard operating procedures.
  • Lead the hiring process for the finance and accounting team, and ensure new hires receive appropriate training.

Strategic Planning & Decision-Making:

  • Develop strategies to improve profitability, including cost-benefit analysis and exploring new business opportunities.
  • Analyze financial data, including sales forecasts, expenses, and budget plans; monitor actual sales against projections.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the annual business plan, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic direction.
  • Provide analytical support during budget reviews, identifying cost-saving opportunities and productivity enhancements.

Operational Control & Risk Management:

  • Implement and maintain a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks and safeguard assets.
  • Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to improve operations and profitability.
  • Reconcile balance sheets, ensuring account balances are supported by appropriate documentation as per SOPs.
  • Monitor all applicable taxes, ensuring timely collection, accrual, and reporting.

Stakeholder Communication & Relationship Management:

  • Communicate strategic goals, priorities, and focus areas to the finance and accounting team.
  • Attend meetings with owners and key stakeholders to understand and address their priorities and strategic focus.
  • Provide ongoing support and insights to the executive team, influencing property strategies through sound financial decision-making.

Profit & Loss Management:

  • Ensure accurate documentation of profits and losses, ensuring costs are properly matched to revenue and recorded correctly.
  • Monitor and improve profit growth in operating departments through effective financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Submit financial reports on time, ensuring compliance with delivery deadlines.

Team Development & Training:

  • Cross-train team members to support successful daily operations.
  • Create and implement development plans tailored to team members' individual strengths, needs, and career aspirations.
  • Conduct performance reviews and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance.

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Business Administration
  • Five (5) years of experience in Senior Accounting management
  • Five (5) years experience in FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) position for a services organization delivering billable professional services
  • A strong work ethic with an attention to detail, organized, able to problem solve and multi-task
  • Excellent people skills and a desire to educate leaders to advance financial acumen
  • Extensive cloud financial software and reporting software skills (NetSuite ERP, NetSuite Planning & Budgeting (NSPB), Oracle Hyperion PBCS, Adaptive Planning, GSuite, and/or multiple cloud systems for supporting decentralized services)
  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets required
Salary Range: $160,000 to $175,000
