Carlos Pitanga

Carlos Pitanga has extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Carlos began their career at Xerox as a Process Engineering Trainee and later worked as a Quality System Coordinator at GrafTech International. Carlos then joined ABS Group as a Client Manager before moving to Bureau Veritas, where they served as Regional Manager in Brazil and later as General Manager BVQI & Consultancy Director in Mexico.

Carlos later joined BSI, where they held several senior positions. Carlos served as Mexico and Central America President before becoming South America President. Carlos then became the Senior Vice President of System Certification Solutions - Americas and also took on the role of South America President. In their most recent roles at BSI, they were the COO Assurance, Americas, and managed the Assurance business stream across the Americas region. Carlos also served as the Global Compliance & Risk Director, leading the Compliance & Risk function and supporting the selection of a new global leader.

Carlos Pitanga has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Federal da Bahia, which they obtained from 1987 to 1992. Carlos also holds an MBA from the same university, specializing in Professional Master in Business Administration, which they earned from 2000 to 2002. In 1997, Carlos obtained a Certificate in Quality Management from AOTS JAPAN. Additionally, they received a Certificate in Building Ventures in LATAM from Harvard Business School in 2007.

Carlos also holds several certifications, including being an Automotive Qualified Auditor for the QS 9000 Program from AIAG - Automotive Industry Action Group, which they obtained in 1996. Carlos is also a Certified Quality Auditor from the American Society for Quality, earning this certification in December 1994. Carlos is a Certified Quality Engineer as well, obtaining this certification from the American Society for Quality in December 1993. Lastly, they have a certification as Evaluatore Di Sistemi Qualità, Schema AVSQ 94 from ANFIA - Associazione Nazionale Fra Industrie Automobilistiche.
