Clare Richards

Data Engagement Lead at Bureau of Meteorology

Clare Richards has a diverse range of work experience in various organizations. Clare started their career in 2004 as the Manager of Weather Data Information Systems at The Weather Channel Australia. Clare then worked as a Production Coordinator at Fairfax Digital in 2007 and as an Information Architect at Weatherzone in 2008. In 2008, they also served as the Marketing Manager for Livewire at the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia. Clare joined the Bureau of Meteorology in 2009, where they held different roles, including Project Coordinator and Project Manager. In 2015, they became the Senior HPC Innovation Project Manager at the National Computational Infrastructure, where they planned and managed data collection and services projects. In 2020, they joined the Australian Department of Home Affairs as the Assistant Director of the Disaster Recovery Branch. Currently, they hold the position of Data Engagement Lead at the Bureau of Meteorology since 2021.

Clare Richards earned their Bachelor's degree in Applied Physics from the University of South Australia, attending from 1988 to 1992. Clare then went on to complete a Master's degree in Business Administration (Technology Management) at La Trobe University, studying there from 2000 to 2003. Later on, from 2006 to 2008, Clare pursued a second Master's degree in Media Practice from the University of Sydney.
