James Butler has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. James is currently serving as the Director and Building Engineer & Surveyor at Inspect Buildings Ltd since October 2019. In June 2021, they joined Bureau Veritas Group as a Principal Surveyor/Consultant, where they employ their expertise in structural engineering and survey reporting techniques.

Prior to this, James held various roles at A.E.Butler & Partners Ltd, including Commercial Director, performing marketing and business development tasks while overseeing the surveying side of the practice. James also served as a Director, responsible for undertaking structural reports on buildings, with a specialization in Victorian properties. At Assent Group Ltd, they served as the CEO from 2017.

In their earlier career, James worked as an Operations Manager at Laser Computers Esher, overseeing stock control, import, warehouse capacity, product configuration and testing, delivery schedules, and 3rd party maintenance. James also worked as the Operations & Sales Manager at Golden Gate Ltd.

Starting in 1977, James gained experience as a Special Projects Engineer at McDonnel Douglas Information Systems Ltd and as a Technician at Hawker Siddeley from 1973 to 1977.

Throughout their professional journey, James Butler has acquired qualifications such as BSc(Hons) ICIOB, FCMI, IM.Assoc.Cons.E, showcasing their dedication to continuous learning and professional development.

James Butler attended the University of Bedfordshire from 1997 to 2002, where they pursued a degree in Building Surveying & Construction Law, earning a BSc(Hons).
