James “Jay” Whitlock III

James “Jay” Whitlock III currently serves as the Region II Finance Chairperson, Chapter Treasurer, and Chapter Finance Chairperson for the National Society of Black Engineers since August 2023. Additionally, James holds the position of Chapter Vice President for ASME, starting in May 2024. James has experience as a Community Ambassador with Burkely Communities since August 2022 and has completed several internships at Chevron, including roles as a Project Engineering Intern and Facilities Design & Solutions Intern. Other notable positions include Mister SWE with the Society of Women Engineers and Event Coordinator for the same organization. Earlier experience includes a Companion Scholar role at St. Xavier High School and internships in design and quality engineering at GE Aerospace and GE Aviation. James is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, expected to graduate in May 2025, after previously attending Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University.
