Allan Smith

With over 35 years of maritime experience, Allan is their Director of Shipbuilding.

Tasked with developing the short- and long-term engineering plans and build strategies across the group, Allan is also responsible for ensuring all four sites are ‘work-ready’.

Allan joins Harland & Wolff from Aerius Marine UK where he was the Senior Operations Manager. As part of this role, Allan was involved in the Batch 1 Type 26 programme in Glasgow as well as leading a team to provide in service support to HMNB Portsmouth.

Prior to this, Allan held senior operations positions with both the Aircraft Carrier Alliance and BAE Systems. Throughout these roles, he has delivered HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales into service as well as HMS Dragon (Type 45), Cardigan Bay and Lyme Bay (Bay Class) alongside eight landing craft for assault ships: HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark.

In his spare time, Allan enjoys spending time with his young family and when the opportunity arises, playing golf.
