Miguel Barrieras

Miguel Barrieras is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in strategic leadership and commercial banking. Currently serving as the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer at BDC since February 2022, Miguel leads multidisciplinary teams to enhance BDC's impact on the Canadian economy, focusing on environmental initiatives and underrepresented markets. Miguel's previous roles include Professor in Residence at HEC Montréal, Executive Vice President at FTM International Group, and Senior Partner at Oaklins E. Canada. Notably, Miguel held senior positions at Scotiabank and HSBC, including Global Head of Strategy and Planning for Global Commercial Banking at HSBC, where responsibilities included overseeing significant banking operations in Mexico, France, and Europe. Miguel holds multiple degrees, including a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma in Economics from Université Laval, and has completed executive programs at renowned institutions like Duke University and the Institut des grands leaders de Montreal.
