Dr. Ashley Somogyi

Dr. Ashley Somogyi has a diverse work experience in the field of education and language learning. Dr. Ashley currently serves as the Director of Learning (B2B) at Busuu, where they lead the world's largest online community for language learning. Prior to this, they founded InnovatED - EdTech Solutions in 2020 and worked as the Founder. In 2021, they joined Sana Labs as part of the Content Innovation Strategy team, where they played a role in transforming workplace learning through personalized and engaging courses.

Dr. Ashley also has experience as the Vice President of Education at Lanlo, an app-based language learning platform, and as the Global Director of Academic Affairs and Director of Academic Affairs at EF Education First, an international education company.

Before entering the corporate world, they worked as a Digital Learning Specialist and English Instructor at St Edward's School, Oxford, and as an English Department Tutorial Leader at Durham University. Additionally, they gained experience in curriculum writing and development as well as academic consulting as the Founder and COO of Crown Academic Consulting.

Dr. Ashley Somogyi has also held editorial positions, serving as the Editor of Medieval Studies at the University of Bristol, Harts & Minds Journal, and as a Curriculum Writer and Developer for the International Creative English Scheme. With a strong background in education and language learning, they bring a wealth of expertise to their current role at Busuu.

Dr. Ashley Somogyi completed their education at Durham University and the University of Florida. Dr. Ashley obtained a Bachelor of Art degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Florida in 2009. Dr. Ashley then pursued their higher education at Durham University, where they earned a Master of Arts degree in an unspecified field of study in 2013. Continuing their academic journey, they also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in English Language and Literature from Durham University in 2018.

Additionally, Dr. Somogyi holds several certifications. In 2010, they completed the Certification to Teach English as a Foreign Language from ITTT - International TEFL & TESOL training. In 2015, they earned a Certification in Mandarin Chinese Language from the University of Oxford. Two years later, in 2018, they obtained a Certification in Editorial Project Management from the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP). Most recently, in 2020, they completed the AI Foundations certification provided by IBM.
