Therese Coffey has over 20 years of experience in HR and people management roles. Therese is currently the Head of People & Culture at The Butterfly Foundation since March 2020. Prior to that, they worked as an HR Consultant at Therese Coffey Consulting from October 2016 to March 2020. From November 2013 to September 2016, they served as the Head of Human Resources at Diabetes NSW & ACT. Therese also worked as an HR Business Partner at BD from September 2009 to June 2013 and as an HR Manager at QBE from June 2006 to September 2009. Earlier in their career, they held HR managerial roles at Fosters Group from December 1999 to December 2005 and at Secom Security from August 1997 to March 1999.

Therese Coffey attended the University of Newcastle from 1994 to 1997, where they pursued a degree in Business with a focus on Human Resources.

Butterfly Foundation

The Butterfly Foundation represents all people affected by eating disorders – a person with an eating disorder, their family and their friends. As a leading national voice in supporting their needs, Butterfly highlights the realities of seeking treatment for recovery, and advocates for improved services from both government and independent sources. Butterfly operates a National Helpline, which is staffed by counsellors experienced in assisting with eating disorders. It also provides a wide range of facilities for service providers and recovery groups. Because Butterfly recognises that eating disorders often arise from poor body image, it delivers a range of Positive Body Image workshops to schools and workplaces through its education program. It has a strong media presence to raise awareness of Butterfly’s perspective in community debates about body image and eating disorders.
