Kate Barney

Kate Barney is the current Head of HR for US and Europe at ByteDance. Prior to this, they served as the VP of People for Pollen from July 2017 to September 2018 where they were responsible for launching Pay Transparency and building a culture that empowered employees. From February 2017 to July 2017, Kate served as the Head of People for Citymapper. From May 2015 to June 2016, they served as the HR Business Partner for Engineering for Bloomberg LP. And from October 2013 to March 2015, Kate served as the Chief Operating Officer for People.Co. Throughout their career, Kate has been committed to driving change and empowering employees with the freedom to choose when, where, and how they work.

Kate Barney graduated from H.B. Plant High School as valedictorian and went on to study East Asian Studies at Harvard University, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Kate then pursued a fellowship in directing at the Beijing Film Academy. After completing their education, Kate Barney became certified as a Global Mobility Specialist.
