Beverly Chiu

Senior Research Associate in Fermentation & HTP at c16 Biosciences

Beverly Chiu has worked in a variety of roles in the field of geomicrobiology since 2012. In 2012, they worked as a Laboratory Assistant at Rutgers Stable Isotope Laboratory. From 2013-2014, they held two National Science Foundation (NSF) summer research internships, one at the University of Minnesota and one at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. In 2014, they were an Undergraduate Research Trainee at Stockholm University, and their work was published in the Earth and Planetary Science Letters. From 2015-2017, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Delaware, where they conducted comparative genomic analysis on environmental isolates of iron-oxidizing bacteria and assisted in field collection and analysis of estuarine porewater for iron and sulfur quantification. From 2017-2022, they worked as a Laboratory Manager and Research Assistant in Geomicrobiology at Dartmouth College, where they performed interdisciplinary studies examining how environmental stresses affect microbial physiology and consequent geochemical signals. In 2022, they began their current role as a Senior Research Associate in Fermentation & HTP at C16 Biosciences.

Beverly Chiu obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Geology with a Minor in Biology from Rutgers University between 2011 and 2015. Beverly then completed a Master of Science (M.S.) in Geology with a focus in Geomicrobiology from the University of Delaware between 2015 and 2017. In 2014, Beverly also attended Stockholm University for a program in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences.
