Edgaras Baranauskas has a diverse background in software development and engineering. Edgaras started their career as a Software Developer at intuitive, where they gained experience implementing new features in a web reservation platform. Edgaras also developed debugging skills while working on a large codebase.
Edgaras then joined CACI Ltd as a Software Developer, where they were responsible for developing and maintaining a desktop application for predictive analytics. Edgaras utilized C#, WinForms, and R to implement features such as a dynamically generated user interface for building machine learning models. Edgaras successfully transitioned the software to rely solely on R for modeling, allowing for the deprecation of a third-party library.
In their next role as a Senior Software Engineer at CACI Ltd, Edgaras was part of a research and product development team focused on overhauling software development approaches. Edgaras played a crucial role in building a multi-branded web application for displaying historic train performance data. Edgaras also introduced the use of microservices architecture and implemented a backend RESTful API using Python Flask.
Edgaras then moved up to the position of Principal Software Engineer at CACI Ltd. Edgaras took on technical leadership responsibilities in a research and product development team working on migrating infrastructure and services to the cloud. Edgaras led the design and development of an event-driven data pipeline using Azure Functions and Azure Storage for a marketing platform. Edgaras also contributed to the development of CACI's identity resolution API.
Currently, Edgaras serves as the Head of Cloud Engineering at CACI Ltd. Edgaras leads a team of cloud engineers and focuses on expanding the cloud engineering department's role in the business. Edgaras aims to establish cloud engineering as a central function across multiple business units, utilizing a cloud-first approach to deliver services.
Edgaras Baranauskas completed their Master of Computing degree in Computing Science from the University of East Anglia, from 2009 to 2013. In 2017, they also completed the Deep Learning Nanodegree Foundation program from Udacity. Most recently, in 2020, they completed the AWS Cloud Architect Nanodegree Program from Udacity as well.
