Kayla Hardwick

Scientist Ii, Computational Biology at CajalNeuro

Kayla Hardwick has held a variety of positions in the field of genomics and neuroscience. Kayla began their career in 2007 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington. In 2009, they became a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Idaho. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Reed College, where they investigated the transcriptional response of Drosophila melanogaster to parasitoid infection. From 2018 to 2021, they worked as a Genome Scientist at Phylos, where they developed genomic resources for Cannabis sativa, implemented a custom pipeline for processing and analyzing genetic data, and prepared comprehensive genetic and phenotypic reports. Most recently, they began working as a Scientist II in NGS Analysis at Cajal Neuroscience.

Kayla Hardwick received their Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Biology, General from the University of Washington in 2009. Kayla then went on to the University of Idaho where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Evolutionary Biology and Genomics in 2015.
