Dean Wendt

Dean Wendt has extensive experience in academic leadership and research, currently serving as Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo since July 2017. Wendt held various roles at Cal Poly, including Dean of Research and Interim Dean of Research from January 2013 to July 2017, and Director of the Center for Coastal Marine Sciences from June 2012 to July 2017. Prior experience includes serving as Associate Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and ascending through the ranks from Assistant Professor to Full Professor in the biology department at Cal Poly since 2002. Before joining Cal Poly, Wendt worked as an Assistant Professor at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Wendt earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Biology from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.
