Richard Milford

Richard Milford, Ph.D., is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in system engineering and management within the aerospace industry. Currently serving as Senior Director of System Engineering at Virgin Orbit since July 2017, Richard additionally holds a position as Advisor and Board Member at Kane Robotics. Previous roles include Department Manager for Flight & Controls at Boeing from 2014 to July 2017 and Product Line System Engineering & R&D Portfolio Manager at Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems from 2009 to 2013. Prior to these positions, Richard was Chief Operating Officer at Enigma Science, LLC and Senior Manager at Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. Richard's career began at Hughes Space & Communications as Manager of Spacecraft Autonomy. Academic credentials include an MBA in Finance from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Ph.D. in Controls and Robotics from The University of Queensland, where Richard also earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical & Space Engineering.
