Byron K. Yancy Pmp, Cissp

Byron K. Yancy, PMP, CISSP, CISM has over 35 years of work experience in various roles related to cybersecurity and information technology. Most recently, they served as a Cybersecurity Operations Director at Calian Group, starting in April 2022.

Prior to that, Byron worked at PROS as an Information Security Manager from August 2021 to April 2022. Byron K. also held positions such as Lead Information Security Engineer and Sr. IT Security Engineer at PROS, where they managed critical incident response, led security projects, and specialized in Splunk architecture and SIEM system integration.

From 2012 to 2015, Byron worked at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) as a Sr. Network Security Analyst. Here, they developed IT security projects compliant with HIPAA regulations and implemented security standards.

Before joining UTHealth, Byron worked at Alert Logic as a Security Analyst, where they provided support for IDS/IPS configuration and performed packet payload analysis. Byron K. also gave client recommendations for exploit prevention.

Additionally, Byron has experience working as a Network Administrator at United Financial Services and as a Network Operations Specialist at Verizon, where they resolved network outages and handled router upgrade projects.

Early in their career, Byron served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Armaments Systems Specialist, resolving electronics systems troubles and maintaining a Secret Security Clearance.

Byron K. Yancy, PMP, CISSP, CISM, holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics, with a minor in Information Systems, earned from The University of Texas at Arlington - College of Business. Additionally, they pursued studies in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. Yancy has also obtained various certifications, including CISSP from ISC2, CISM from ISACA, Splunk Certified Administrator and Splunk Certified Knowledge Manager from Splunk. Furthermore, they hold certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), FairWarning Ready® Certified Master Professional, GIAC Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), GIAC Systems and Network Auditor (GSNA), and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Lastly, they have earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
