Marissa Roy

Deputy Attorney General

Marissa Roy is a Deputy Attorney General with the California Department of Justice, a position held since September 2023. Simultaneously, Marissa serves as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Southern California, a role initiated in 2020. Prior experience includes working as a Staff Attorney at Public Rights Project from 2021 to 2023, and as an Associate at O'Melveny & Myers LLP between 2019 and 2021. Marissa also held a Judicial Law Clerk position at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2018-2019 and worked as a Deputy City Attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office from 2017 to 2018. Early in the career, Marissa contributed to the San Francisco City Attorney's Office as a Clinic Member of the San Francisco Affirmative Litigation Project and held summer internships at the Western Center On Law & Poverty and O'Melveny & Myers LLP. Marissa Roy earned a Doctor of Law (JD) from Yale Law School (2014-2017), a Master of Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California (2012-2014), and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from the University of Southern California (2010-2014).
